I am a second-year English and Rhetoric and Writing major at the University of Texas at Austin, pursuing a minor in Asian American Studies. After graduating with my undergraduate degree, I plan on attending graduate school for my Ph.D. in English to continue my interdisciplinary research at the crux of literature and Asian American Studies.

I am currently based in Austin, Texas. However, I spent the years before my undergraduate career in Houston, Texas.

This semester, I began building my User Experience (UX) Design skills alongside cultivating a portfolio of research and literary criticism. Throughout this semester, I have written multiple UXD-centered papers and worked on a longer-form project, eventually discovering that my passions lie in integrating my identity into my academic projects. From turning my love for pets into a solution that simplifies finding a vet or transforming my addiction to mobile reading into a study of streak counters, Rhetoric and Writing has given me the space to form pieces of myself into academic work.

Alongside developing my technical writing, my specialty lies in close reading and identity-based research. I have written multiple papers on Cold War-era conflicts in Asia, connecting to my family’s history in Taiwan’s Nationalist Revolution and my father’s youth spent as a refugee during the Second Indochina War.

I will be working this summer as a research intern for the Institute of American and European Studies at Kyungpook National University in Daegu, South Korea.
